6 Month Post Op Visit Breakdown

Well I did it I made it to 6 months post op! I'm thrilled that my doctor was happy with my progress and though I want to be further along, I too have become content and happy with my overall progress. I'm actually smiling about it :-)

So here are my numbers:
Weight = 214 lbs
Total lost = 80 lbs
Lbs left to goal weight = 40 to 50 lbs
Inches lost in hips = 29 1/2
Inches lost per arm = 9
Inches lost in legs = 16
Inches lost in rib cage = 10
BMI before surgery = 53.1
BMI @ 6 months = 36.7

My blood test came back complete today. My levels for vitamin intakes were all on mark or above with the exception of B1. It was to be over 70 and mine was 67 - I need to look into keeping my B levels overall in line. My glucose was 95 fasting and in a good range. My A1c was 5.9 which is still considered pre-diabetic, but it is going in the right direction. My HDL (good chloesterol) was increased from last time and on its way to normal; it was 44 and should be in the 50 + category but I'm happy with that. My LDL was a little high so I'll probably get a "verbal whipping" from my regular doc, but the bariatric doc was ok with it because it is so much lower it isn't funny and my body is still continuing to push out fat from my liver.

Overall I am happy and pleased. I'm healing and moving and though the weight might not come off as easily in the next 6 months to a year, I'm dedicated to keep it coming. I'm seeing the benefits and reaping the rewards at so many angles. I'm really happy with it and though I'm not complacent and want to keep improving, I know I can do it.

One sad thing is the loss of my nutritionist. Jessica left Vandy so no more awesome cool times with her :-( but she did teach me a lot and offer me some great things. Now I have to get used to a new nutritionist, but I will get used to her in time.
