Day 1

I woke up anxious. I was excited about resetting my pouch, but also anxious about the change. What if I get hungry? What if I can't do it? What if I cheat? All of these questions were going through my head as I laid in bed waking up. I didn't sleep well last night, but it wasn't from the anxiety, when my husband is away I don't sleep well, so that added to feeling groggy didn't push me out of bed, but I got up and got to the task at hand. I started off the morning with a shake. I had prepped all of the fruit the day before and new what I had so picking my flavor pallet was all I had to do. I chose to start off simple and picked smoothie #1. See recipe below.

Smoothie #1 - "Orangberry Sunrise"
1/2 medium banana sliced thin
3 heaping tbsp of strawberries (these had been sprinkled with splenda when cut up)
1/4 cup of orange juice
1 to 1 1/2 cups of 2% milk
I used a magic bullet blender, so I dumped it all in my cup, blended and drank away!

Protein Count:
Milk = 8g
OJ = 1g
Banana = 1g
Strawberries = 1g
Total = 11g
*note: I used the 2% milk because it was the bottom of the carton and I didn't want to throw it away

After eating breakfast, I got up and did my stretches and small ab work out given to me by the chiropractor. I did 6 crunches and 6 sets of oblique crunches as well. I can't believe I can do a crunch and feel the way it works. Pretty excited about that. For some activity I started cleaning house (which got neglected from the dual ear infections) so I started with the kitchen, and then decided to vacuum and really clean. I moved furniture, cleaned out the junk area by my husbands chair, separated laundry for the laundry mat, put all the trash together to be taken out, and febreezed the living room. Now I needed something to eat.

Meal #2 was a yogurt. I'm eating the Fit and Active Key Lime Yogurt from Aldi. It is low calorie, good consistency, and for 6g or protein not too bad. Protein so far = 17 g

Working up an appetite was a good thing, but the yogurt didn't satisfy. I waited a half an hour and I was hungry so I made Smoothie #2.

Smoothie #2 - "Sticky Monkey"
1 1/2 cups of milk
1 tbsp of peanut butter
1/2 of medium banana (left over from smoothie #1) that was frozen

Protein Count
Milk = 12g
Banana = 1g
Peanut Butter = 1.5g
Total = 14.5g

Protein so far after smoothie #2 = 31.5g

My afternoon snack after a bottle of propel zero, was Smoothie #3 that I'm going to entitled "Sweet and Tart"

Smoothie #3 - "Sweet and Tart"
1/4 cup of oj
1 small handful of blackberries
1/3 to 1/2 cup of strawberries (that I had pre-sweetened with splenda)

Protein Count
OJ=1g
Strawberries = 2.5g
Blackberries=1g
Total=4.5

Protein so far after smoothie #3 - 36g

I did notice that I was getting craving for sugar. I also did get a little light headed and fuzzy with not having carbs. I call it carb drop and have had it before. I also wanted to chew something so badly, but I've made it this far, I'm not going to stop now. One of the tips that I read for dealing with the carb drop is to eat a piece of melon or berry and or take a high dose of vitamin C. Instead of doing that I opted for liquid version of it with "Sweet and Tart". I am feeling alot "cleaner" inside from doing this and drinking the liquid has been helpful as well. I feel hydrated. I feel clean. I feel good.

I usually drink a lot of liquid and it is much easier to get it in with it being hot in TX. I measure by drinking a lot of pre-bottled liquid like propel zero, vitamin zero, and sobe zero. No calorie versions of course and it has the added benefit of the vitamin enhanced that has helped keep my absorbing levels high. One of my favorite things is ice tea! I was rewarded with a brand new mr. ice tea maker. Mine had seen better days and after a year and half of so much use, I am glad to have a new one. I'm brewing it right now and can't wait to have some super fruit blueberry acai tea.

Pre-dinner was a Fit & Active Chocolate Milkshake (weight loss shake). It is 10g of protein. I'm glad I read the instructions and served it really cold. At this point in the day I'm fighting the urge to just eat something, but I know it is my head and not my tummy. I'm sipping my liquid and doing this, but dreaded my hubs coming home and asking me to cook dinner. Thank goodness he is sweet enough to have eaten prior to coming home :-) Protein count before dinner is 46g.

Dinner was not complete liquid. Dealing with a headache and a severe sugar drop wasn't something that would be healthy for me. True to my story I've never been completely on liquids per my doctor. I came home on a mix of soft foods and liquids. Tonight for dinner I ate some egg substitute flavored with garlic, pepper, and minced onion and topped off with some cheddar cheese.  I felt full after eating it - something I hadn't been feeling prior when I ate eggs, I ate slow, and chewed. It felt good to chew. This may be cheating on the 5 day pouch test, but it was something I had to do for my health. I never want to put myself in danger ever and low sugar would have done that. Protein count with dinner is now 68g.

For desert while we watch our favorite sunday night tv, I plan on making a "tropical smoothie"

Smoothie #4 - "Tropical Smoothie:
1/2 cup of OJ
10 slices of banana (frozen)
1 tbsp of crushed pineapple
1tsp of pineapple juice (from the canned pineapple)
1 heaping tbsp of strawberries

Protein Count
OJ=3g
Banana = .5g
Strawberries=1g
Total=4.5

Protein total is now at 72.5g.

That is all the food I plan to consume today and I'm happy to report that I'm satisfied, feeling good, and ready to drink some more liquid before bed. Tomorrow might be a little bit harder being at work, but I plan on keeping my liquids during the day with yogurt and pudding to keep me company and eat a sensible dinner tomorrow as well. Hopefully tomorrow will go as well as today did.
