APPROVED!

I still can't get over it. I've must have looked at the email a 100 times, but yes I've been approved for my gastric bypass.

Yesterday, I received an email via the myhealth email system with vanderbilt. Initially I was totally scared to look at it thinking "it's only been a week this could only be bad news..." When I received this email I was in the middle of a duty call and couldn't check my special email so here I am anxious dealing with residents. I ran home and checked my email and read "11/23/2010 16:04 Butler, Cynthia: Hi Mrs. Bettis I just wanted to let you know that I have received authorization for your surgery. You will be scheduled soon. I wish you the best and take care!"

I'm still in total shock that I got approved so quickly. I've waited for this. I've prayed for this. I've craved it even and now to know it here makes me overjoyed that I'm going to be scheduled for surgery soon and possibly before the end of the year. I am so blessed to have been approved so quickly. There are many many thanks that goes out to the doctors and nurses at vanderbilt that pushed me through and encouraged me to keep going for the tests. There is a HUGE thanks to my insurance specialist for taking so good care of my records and helping me submit for approval. All of my doctors support has been nothing but positive reinforcement that I am doing the right thing!

My husband has been the best about supporting me. He has kept me going when it has been really hard. He has kept me going through the procedures and the apointments that never seem to give me good reports, and he has held my hand and learned about my gastric bypass. He is an amazing support system and he is ready as I am to get this surgery done and to start celebrating my new life!

I'm a total glow this morning and its taking everything I have not to call up to the office and say please schedule me for surgery! I am that excited :-)
