It's all Greek to me...Yogurt that is

Greek Yogurt is a new fad, but for those of us post ops it is a great source of protein and it has considerbly more protein than your basic flavored yogurt.

Now I'm picky about my yogurt - very very picky. I've tried alot of Greek yogurt out there and I swear to you it is alot like picking your protein powder. The taste, the texture, the smell - all of that goes into eating Greek yogurt and if you don't like it you don't like it. No harm no foul. I tried brand after brand and nothing came to my liking.

Most tasted sour to me. The texture was too thick. It smelled horrible. I literally remember pinching my nose, closing my eyes, and forcing myself to try these brands. They just weren't going to be in my belly, but after much research (that was so not scientific) I found something that works for me that I want to share with you all that I love.

Oikos is my brand of choice. Now I don't do that traditional no flavor. Nope to fruit in the bottom. I do like their traditional flavored brands. They are the ones with the little red line and I like the texture, the smell, the taste, and the flavors. So far I've had banana cream, key lime pie, toasted vanilla cocunut, strawberry, cafe latte, and orange creamsicle. There is a new raspberry out and that is on my to do list for next week's yogurt run.

If you are looking to try to eat Greek yogurt and want to do it straight out of the cup - this is my way to do it. Flavored all the way, but I'm not beyond using Greek yogurt in baking and such that does call for the non-flavored regular yogurt and I still think Oikos is the best! (It has nothing to do with John Stamos either!)

If you want to do some reading up on Oikos check out their webpage: www.oikosyogurt.com/ and http://www.oikosyogurt.com/where-to-buy-greek-yogurt/

These tips can be found on the site and I love them so I had to share:

  1. Guess what I have sitting in my fridge? I have also discovered that Oikos is delicious and very good for me. I can do the fruit on bottom flavors so that's what I've had for this week. I haven't tried the traditional flavors yet but when I find them I will definitely try them.

I always find it funny just how many similarities you and I have when it comes to little things like this. =)

    1. great minds think alike! i think i need to get over the texture and try the fruit in the bottom ones. i haven't had them since my first "eww" moment but I've tried alot of new things so maybe next week i'll try one!

you should definitely get the cafe latte one - it is a mild coffee flavor and it is just enough of the taste. love it!

    1. They are a great one to try. You might find another brand that works better for you, but I would definitely suggest greek yogurt for the protein punch!
