Sugar and Carbs and Everything NOT nice

I admit it, I've been trying to cut the sugar out and I'm craving it. I'm far enough post-op that my stomach can handle things, but that doesn't mean I need to eat them and that I should. I've thought about this for a long while and I had to come to the conclusion that in the season of getting back the basics, really has had helped, but I've been a little delusional in not doing something I should. CUT IT OUT! So I'm doing something that I've thought long and hard about. It might be controversial, and you might not agree with it, but I think it is what I need to get back to the basics and kick this next 20 lbs away and feel better.

I am planning to do the 5 day pouch test. This was designed by a bariatric patient to help those post-op get back to the basics, go through the original diet plan, get in touch with their pouch, and remember size, portions, drinking correctly in relation to meals, stop slider foods, and get back to feeling that their pouch is tighter. It also gets you off of carbs we aren't supposed to have, gets rid of sugar out of our diets, and gets back to the full feeling. I think I am at the right point for me to do this. So here I go!

The first two days are back to liquids. I am going to concentrate on my 64 oz of liquids in everyday (which i do naturally), tracking no drinking prior to meals for 30 min or 30 min post meals, and getting in your protein. I am going shopping today for tomorrow to start the 2 days of liquids. I can eat all the protein shakes (low carb no sugar) I want, consume as many SF puddings and jello, and have broths too. I am most likely going to skip the broths unless I crave them because that is too much of a pre-op and immediate post-op flash back, but I can utilize the great produce and milk, and protein powders to get my protein shakes in!

I will be blogging about this and sharing my insights and recipes. I'm excited about getting back to the heart of the matter, remembering my pouch feelings, and working out (since I feel better!) Let's do this!

  1. I'm glad you are going to be blogging about it! I've been thinking about doing it after baby an breast feeding.. Which won't be til next year. But I've allowed myself to eat whatever I want these last 9 months.. And I'm afraid my pouch may have sufferers!!
    Thanks for the info :)

    1. I was really concerned that people were going to think I'm crazy or that I was trying to do something fad like because I wasn't working out or something, but after a lot of thought, prayer, and research I think it the best thing for me. I'm going to take pics and everything :-)

by the way you are looking fabulous!
