Closet Overhaul Part 2

The last week has turned into a 10 day absence from y 5K exercise plan, but this weekend I am going to get back on track now that I’m almost done with my antibiotics. I’ve had quite the trip with my tummy and amoxicillin in the amount I’ve needed. I’ve been nauseous and movement, much less walking, has made me gravely feel like I just had WLS! So in response to the nausea and dual ear infections, I’ve taken to relaxing, healing, and being nauseous. I’ve stayed active and am walking, but haven’t been able to push myself much less do more than a stroll with the nausea. Win 1 for the ear infection and a half a point to me for keeping trucking along!

This week brings me to some milestones that are small in comparison to other ones, but I’ve finally dedicated myself doing a second run of “get rid of fat clothes.” This was super traumatic when I did it the first time. You can read about it here. I’m foreseeing this as not as traumatic the second go round, but again I realize that those clothes were part of me…my life…my image and now that has changed. I’m in dire need of the 3X shirts, huge sweat pants, and old clothes to be gone so here is the list I need to pry out of my closet and off to the donation center it goes!

Bras – now that I’ve been fitted, I can get rid of all old bras that no longer fit and rid myself of the sport bras that are out of date and stretched out from my 300lb days

Underwear – I’ve replaced all of my undies with new ones, but the old ones have been something I’ve held onto. Time to get rid of “diaper butt” and get rid of them. These need to be thrown away! I’m not going to be 300lbs again!

T-shirts – all of my old navy XXL’s that are stretched out from my 300lb days need to be gone. I’m no longer that size! Oversized t-shirts for lounging and sleep can stay, but there is a limit – I no longer need 200 shirts!

Pants – all of my pants that are falling off my hips and have to be held up to wear no longer fit into my closet! They need to go so goodbye to all 3X, 28W, XXXL sweatpants

PJs – I love pjs and I’m in need of new ones because all of my pj pants fall into the “falling off of me” category!!!!! Also – I’m too cold to wear pj shorts….time to say goodbye to old friends

Dresses – I don’t want to have dresses that are too big, too small, or are too tight in my closet. I want to be able to put on clothes and wear them! Time to look at an over haul of what is in this category

Shoes – this is the toughest for me, but it needs to be done. Sandals that were made for fat feet of last summer are too big! Time to buy new.

This is a huge list and one that scares me. I don’t want to say goodbye to these but I know that I need to and though it is an investment for an overhaul like this – it has to be done. I’ve spent time trying on clothes and being fitted, and I’ve made the purchases to allow me to do this. Time to spring clean the fat off the closet and out the door it goes.

  1. I am so excited for you!! That is such a bittersweet moment where you can get rid of all old stuff, even if we are attached to it. But then it sucks replacing that closet huh??

    1. Congrats on the progress! I work with a great group of ladies making quilts for those that are less fortunate. We use bras, among other things, in the making of the quilts. We cut them up into pieces that we can use to fashion handles for the quilts that also keep them rolled up when they are not being used. I hope that you will keep us in mind when sorting through your old bras insted of throwning them in the trash.
